Olsen, (Ronald) R.C.
R. C. was spunk, spirit & sass, today we celebrate the life of Ronald
Claydean (Curl) Olsen. Born in Broken Bow, Nebraska, July 22, 59. To
Betty Lou Eacker Olsen, and Clayton E'Dean (Curl) Olsen (deceased May 1959). Ron
spent a part of his youth raised on several farms in Rural Custer County;
Anselmo, Merna, Victoria Springs area, with his mom, step father Robert Taft
George, sister Mary Janet George , and brother "Kenny" Kenneth William George.
Early training made him a dedicated, dependable hard worker. Ron helped in the
family’s dairy operation and daily farm chores. He moved to Lincoln May 1969
after his stepfathers farming accident & loss of family farm. As a young man he
delivered news papers and worked for the family business, Handyman and Family.
Ron attended Merna, Anselmo, Sheridan elementary schools, Irving Junior High,
Wittier Junior High, and Northeast High school's. After the death of his
stepfather in 1975, depression became a lifetime struggle. He attended Job Core
in South Dakota, received his H.S. and Welding certification. In 1977 he was a
proud big brother to Carl Eugene Hickerson, born two months before he became a
father to his son Joshua Nathaniel Ohlschwager Olsen.
Ron married his Jr. High School sweet heart; Luanne Sue Ohlschwager. Of this
union their second child, a daughter, Danielle Renee Olsen was born. She was/is
"The best and most expensive Dam Birthday present he ever received!" He was
employed at Cushman's as a welder until its doors closed. With this job loss the
battle of depression became a hard battle to fight, his marriage ended, not for
lack of love.
Starting over, he attended WyoTech, Laramie Wyoming, he received his Associate
Degree in Collision/Refinishing Technology. He started work for McGinnis Ford.
Although he loved the job, he missed welding. Ron then gained employment at
National Crane, Waverly NE, he worked their till they closed their doors. He
became a grandfather to Isaiah Make' Rollie. Traveled to Indonesia, married Dami
Paidi Olsen, "His everything, his reason for living" Worked for Kawasaki Motors
Corp., as a welder his life time career, where he was employed till they reduced
their work force, offering early retirement. He worked the last 8 months as a
custodian at UNL. Ron was a dedicated hard working employee offering a life time
of service to those whom employed him.
He was a dedicated family man; a wonderful son, brother, friend, husband, lover,
uncle, father and grandfather. He expressed his love and compassion to all those
that loved him. His life time battle of chronic Depression, we all need to
recognize and understand this disease no different that any other disease of the
body. It was a chronic disease that he strived many times to overcome, to
persevere, to find joy and love. He has lost this battle not with the desire to
leave those he loved, but to seek peace. For all of you whom found the last days
of his life sensational, we found it as an act of desperation. We whom love him,
struggle and seek to understand his desperation. We accept and love him with all
our hearts. For this we seek all memorials be donated to: BryanLGH

|Part 2 - If Ron's family reads this, please consider coming to the only support group in Lincoln for survivors of suicide. It's called Ray of Hope. Even if it's not soon but down the road in your grief recovery, it has been the sole source of my own grief recovery. Here is the information - I hope it can be a resource for you: |

|Part 1 - I posted this on the LJS site also, but hoped you would get a chance to see it - my heart truly goes out to you right now!
I want to say thank you the family member who so eloquently wrote this obituary and is showing Lincoln that depression is real and that the way someone loses his life does not define it. I lost my father last year at the age of 64 to depression and suicide and went through a very difficult time. Even my own church turned it's back on me. |
